7 years strong, this year's Y101 Rock-Off is going to be the biggest ever, with 18 bands battling it out at the Canal Club for bragging rights, $500 to Guitar Center and an opening slot for Y101's Snowball 2008!

Is your whistle wet now? Okay, here's the schedule:

The Half Jeffersons - Week 1 Winner
The Half Jeffersons are a five piece band hailing from Powhatan, Virginia. They write and play indie-rock chocked full of catchy hooks and beautiful melodies.


The Jim Ivins Band
After Jim Ivins recorded his debut “99 cent Dreams” by himself, Jim assembled The Jim Ivins Band. This 4-piece plays catchy acoustic driven pop rock whose hooks will have singing along instantly.

Sovatone
Sovatone is a 3 piece experimental rock band that mixes funk, reggae, gospel, dance, classic rock, and everything in between.

Carolina Liar
The kick-off will include a very special performance from Atlantic Records recording artist Carolina Liar!
September 4
Kevin Beckley
Richmond's upbeat death-metal band Kevin Beckley has a very powerful stance in Richmond now days. Their songs are heavy and intense with confusing colossal riffs taking place. They put on an intense show while the members of the band tear up the stage letting the crowd do the rest for them. They have a very catchy sound and love to see the crowd go wild.

The Secret Cool - Week 2 Winner
This quartet hailing from the city of Richmond brings a unique sound to the table with songs ranging from pop punk to emo to indie rock to whatever else you can dream of. Their songs, with their upbeat catchy hooks, are bound to grab hold of you and make you start dancing..... or at least clapping along.

A Suffocating Signal
Richmond based Indie/Pop-Punk band that will instantly bring a smile to your face. With their "Stay Posi" mentality and their energetic live shows they are sure to be stuck in your head for weeks.

Asleep at the Bottom of the Sea - Week 3 Winner
4 members, 16 strings, 10 speakers, 4 drums

Crashing Reality
The band Crashing Reality combines a unique blend of catchy riff-driven guitar melodies, fat keyboard sounds, shredding guitar solos, sweet vocal harmonies, and intense drum rhythms with poetic lyrics that deal with life's challenges and questions.

The Skatter Brain
The Skatter Brain is the result of being locked in a basement in the middle of no where. A mix of ska and punk, prepare for a raw energy that has to be seen to be understood.
September 18
Azure Allele
This talented quintet from Richmond, Virginia, is an emotional, ethereal composite of "In Your Face" Metal and Electronica guided by angelic female vocals.

Colin Healy and the Jetskis - Week 4 Winner
Richmond based pop punk band that weds upbeat piano melodies with wonderfully minimalist guitars that grab you by the ears and snuggle your eardrums. Their refreshing songs showcase crisp hooks and raw emotion that captures anyone who opens their heart to listen.

Robert Parker Vaughn
Robert Parker Vaughan’s music features significant Indie and Acoustic Rock influences that collide to form a solid, laid back sonic experience.

Against Grace
Against Grace provides a unique blend of alternative, pop, and rock music combined with insightful and heart-felt lyrics. They'll indulge your senses and leave you feeling upbeat after every energy-packed and passion-filled performance.

Bexley
This quartet comprised of fourteen year olds, is the youngest band to play the Rock Off in 7 years. They are driven by catchy melodies, indie-pop guitar riffs, fantabular bass lines that will rock your faces off, and chops that will cut you into pieces. Their catchy songs which fit into the categories of anything from pop to post-hardcore to indie will leave you begging for more.

Roslyn - Week 5 Winner
Roslyn is a pop rock band from Richmond, VA. Comprised of ex-members of River City High, Knucklehed and Four Stories, Roslyn blends a unique style of pop and rock n' roll with influences ranging from The Beatles, Green Day, The Kooks, Jimmy Eat World and The Replacements to name a few.
October 2
Aquabatics
Aquabatics find the right way to combine hip hop and rock as one of Richmond’s freshest groups. A DJ, an MC and a full band to back them up combine to give fans of all genres something to listen to.

LetterBox Tragedy
Richmond’s Letterbox Tragedy’s shows are infused with energy, driving their fans to rock-induced euphoria. Raw, powerful screams to melodic, heartfelt elegies, are complemented by blistering guitar riffs and solid rhythms.

Prabir and the Subtitutes - Week 6 Winner
Combining a classic ’50s rhythm-and-blues foundation, ’60s pop harmonies, and the showmanship of a heavily caffeinated ’70s soul group, Prabir and The Substitutes capture all the freshness of the British Invasion by injecting just enough modern quirk to make it sound new.
